2006 Toyota Tacoma

Austin’s 2006 Tacoma:

Austin Started his Tacoma build back when he was 18. Starting off with little things to make it look more aggressive. Austin had no intentions back when the build started to be a huge off-roader and taking it to an overlanding build until the first time he went to the Uwharrie National Forest. Here, Austin met huge overlanders like Apex Overland and found Expedition Overland on Youtube who began to inspire his dreams and build. By this time the Tacoma known as Rosa-Lee only had 31 inch all terrains and a leveling kit. From there Austin upgraded to a 3-inch ToyTec Ultimate Coilover with 33-inch BF Goodrich KO2 tires. Also 1 inch tire spacers to reduce rubbing to nothing.

Later putting a roof basket on with custom mounts and a 42-inch light bar across the top of the windshield. That rack also has a ARB Awning and Maxsa Escaper Buddy traction boards. One of the tacoma’s more fundamental upgrades was the All-Pro Standard front bumper, intensifying ground clearance and approach angle. In that bumper is the WARN ZEON 10-s Synthetic Winch provided by WARN industries. Two LED pods are in the bumper for more light at night. Another modification to the Tacoma which added a great look but also dry bed storage is the Bestop SuperTop softopper. It provides full bed usage while keeping everything dry but also can be folded down. Smaller upgrades that add influential overland readiness is the ARB breather to make water crossings safe for the rear differential and transfer case. The engine upgrade currently in the Tacoma is the K&N Cold air intake giving cleaner air to the engine. Also the All-Pro leaf spring shackle flip kit adds more ground clearance to the rear axle.

The 2006 Toyota Tacoma is a TRD Off-Road so it comes stock with a rear differential E-locker that comes in handy in tight situations. Currently being built custom by Austin is a bed storage system to soon hold an overland ready fridge, cooking burners and drawers for storage. Always on board is a full recovery bag. Future mods to the Tacoma will be a Pelfreybilt High-Clearance rear bumper with tire swing, 35-inch tires, hard top overland ARE top for bed, full length vehicle roof rack and a Roof top tent. Rock lights will also be added soon. That is the build so far of the 06 tacoma with much more to come.
